Self Image

This feeling of entrapment
With no where to hide

How I love to love myself
How I love to hate myself

All in a single breath
While burying my self image

This feeling of pretentiousness
Often leads to demise

How I love to love myself
How I love to doubt myself

All in a single breath
While torturing my self image

Broken

It is a harsh world
To be judged so openly
We put ourselves out there
Hoping for the best
To be consumed by all the hype

You and I are just broken
Hiding in the depths of truths
Facets of a lost reality

Souls searching for ever more
Out there I'm one of a kind
Inside I am another
Two parts torn in the middle
Which puzzle piece do you prefer?

You and I are just broken
Hiding in the depths of truths
Facets of a lost reality

Do you dare

There is an equal balance
Both in light and dark
But if one tips the scales
A side must be chosen

Do you dare walk the path
Do you dare stumble
Do you dare close your eyes
Do you dare to not
Be true to yourself

There is an equal scale
Both in good and bad
But if the season is wrong
You are left to adapt

Do you dare swim the gauntlet
Do you dare tread water
Do you dare to stop swimming
Do you dare to not
Be honest to yourself

There is an equal time
Both in day and night
But if you pause for a moment
Does the clock stop?

Something

I'm spinning around
Inside my own head
Things feel way too fast
Perhaps out of depth
Hoping it will slow down

I'm missing something
I'm missing the note
I'm missing me

When you feel stuck
Knowing there is possibility
In a world of unknown
Waiting for you to grasp
With an open hand

I'm missing something
I'm missing the memo
I'm missing me

I just want to be on top
Of that awe inspiring list
Apart of the greater plan
Embracing it all in
Allowing it all in

A name you are called

You were a knight
In shining armour
With an outward stretched hand
Lifting me up gently
Planting my roots firmly

Allowing my branches to spread
Entwined on the family tree
So much love you gave
With no ask in return
No judgment bestowed

The brightest light to shine
With words spoken soft and true
Of a faithful servant
Living the gospel
Leaving a trail of blessings

A name you are called
Touches our lips
With enduring love
Grandfather, Dad, Husband,
Brother and Friend

To my dearest father in-law who I love so much, your presence is certainly missed. May you walk in the fields of heaven with the sun on your back and enjoy the beautiful life God has echoed.
