Younger me

People always telling me
You should dream
Set goals to reach
Look ahead to the future

It's not that I'm not happy
How I wished some things
Turned out different
Wouldn't you want a rewrite

I'm missing the old
I'm missing the past
I'm thinking what if
There was once a younger me

Fun free spirited child
Running free of illusions
Loving all hopelessly
Without a care in the world

I didn't have commitments
Living day to day
Smiling more openly
Bearing no hidden walls

I'm missing the old
I'm missing the past
I'm thinking what if
There was once a younger me

All grown up now
Life dictates the rules
To which we live by
Gone are the imaginations

I can surely reminisce
Close my eyes
From time to time
And enjoy those memories
