Coming of age

As I get older
So I enjoy this day
Much to my amusement
Messages mean so much
Of those that care
Counting all my blessings
For the people that surround me

Coming of age
Nothing to fret about
But only to revel
In the fact
That I'm alive

I notice how
The face changes subtly
From laugh lines
To a noticeable frown
That appears when stressed
Making me human by fault
Distinctive years we cannot avoid

Coming of age
Nothing to fret about
But only revel
In the fact
That I'm alive

When I see me
In the mirror so close
Black rings underneath
For the tired eyes
Have nothing to hide
But a life lived
Through some hardships

Coming of age
Nothing to fret about
But only revel
In the fact
That I'm alive

From the heart
